Sign: Man Violently Beat Innocent Puppy For Breaking A Pair Of Sunglasses

Published: April 28, 2023 at 06:34 PM Author: PENNY EIMS

Detroit, MI – On March 21, a 29-year-old man was arrested and charged after the Detroit Police Department watched a video posted to social media showing the violent abuse of a pit bull puppy named Lady.

The three-month-old puppy belongs to the former friend of Lenard Maurice Shaw, the man accused of viciously attacking the puppy for chewing up “expensive” sunglasses, which in actuality were $50 Cartier “knock-offs.”

According to Detroit Police Captain Fulgenzi, the video footage shows Shaw violently shaking and choking Lady. In the video, which went “viral” on Facebook, the puppy can be heard screaming in pain and then lying motionless after being knocked unconscious. According to Shaw’s former friend, the man threw Lady’s body into the trash after the beating.

Captain Fulgenzi commended the “power of social media” for helping the Detroit Police find and arrest Shaw, and he said that the police would “not tolerate it,” with regard to animal cruelty.

The attack on the puppy resulted in multiple charges, including one count of second-degree animals-killing/torturing (a seven-year felony) and one count of abandoning/cruelty to one animal.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said:

“I have seen cases in the past where someone lost their life over a pair of sunglasses. This is the first one that I have encountered where a completely defenseless dog was allegedly savagely beaten over a broken pair of sunglasses. It defies logic and basic humanness that anyone would think this is acceptable.”

If what this man did to Lady makes your stomach turn and your heartache, please add your name to the petition and help us fight to put him away for as long as possible!

We the undersigned demand that Lenard Shaw is held responsible for his violent attack on an innocent puppy named Lady. We are petitioning for Shaw to receive the maximum punishment allowable by law for the charges stemming from his cruel, abusive behavior. At sentencing, we also hope to see Shaw prohibited from owning or residing with animals.

Watch an interview with Officer M. Fulgenzi:

Individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. Animal Victory relies upon the authorities and the court system to determine guilt or innocence.

Note: According to the Detroit Police Department, and Lady’s owner, the puppy survived the attack and is okay.
