I live in NY's Fingerlakes Region and am interested knowing more about Mimi. I am considering applying to adopt her once she has finished her treatment. I would just say I want her today, but need more information, as there are some considerations r/t my mobility issues as well as my two cats, one of whom is approaching 19 and significantly arthritic. But I think I would be a great dogmom for her. All my pets have been rescues one way or another. My last good boy was in the local shelter ~4 years an although attached to some staff members, had clearly been abused at some point. He only came home with me after I spent 10 weeks visiting him on my lunch break 3 times weekly. Bandit would not get into the car to come home and had to be lifted in by shelter staff. He was terrified of everything and began his time with me by nipping my then 5-year-old grandson not once but twice in the first few weeks, thus needing to be gated in a bedroom whenever we had guests. Despite that inauspicious start, after about 2 years of much love and patience he finally got in bed to snuggle that child, who called me into the room, very excited and proud, where I found them, both smiling like they'd won something precious, which of course they had! It's a quieter household now. With my grandson age 14 and his sister nearly 18 and heading off to college in the fall, they rarely visit for sleepovers that used to happen nearly every weekend weekly. My gentleman friend, also an animal lover, still comes from his home 30 miles away every Friday evening and stays until Monday. I am retired, have a sizeable although unfenced yard, and would be walking a dog on leash with trips to one of the nearby parks 2-3 times weekly.
