Sign: He Threw Four Helpless Kittens Against Walls to Kill Them, Says a Human is Next

Burien, Washington – A King County SWAT team arrested 31-year-old Devon Detweiler following an investigation that began on August 19. Detweiler was arrested at a Jack-in-the-Box drive-thru after the man’s father reached out to Burien Police with serious concerns stemming from Facebook messages and videos involving Detweiler’s killing of multiple kittens and statements expressing a desire to kill humans next.

Detweiler admitted to killing four kittens that he had adopted. The kittens were hit or thrown into walls – hard enough to break through the sheetrock; one kitten was mutilated.

These innocent kittens were at one moment snuggling or playing, and the next moment, they were being violently hurled into a wall by someone they trusted. Detweiler said “he loved it,” and wanted to kill a puppy next, as well as a human. Detectives obtained audio where Detweiler can be heard saying, “Every f—ing day, bro. I can’t wait until I do a person, bro, I f—ing love it, bro! I love it, bro, I can’t wait.”

Detweiler told friends that he planned to continue to adopt free kittens and puppies from Craigslist, with the intent to kill them like his prior victims. Shockingly, Detweiler told his own father that he wanted to kill people, and he planned to start with him. As reported by Fox 13, “while in custody, corrections officers said he later told them he planned to “rip his father’s head off” for contacting police.”

This man is a clear danger to society, and his sadistic crimes must be taken with the utmost seriousness! Please add your name to the petition to put Devon Detweiler away for as long as legally possible and ensure that he is prohibited from EVER owning or residing with an animal again.

WHY THIS PETITION MATTERS: 

We, the undersigned, demand that Devon Detweiler be held accountable for sadistically killing multiple kittens he adopted and for threatening to kill more “free pets” and people. It is our collective demand that this man face the maximum sentence for every charge stemming from these criminal acts and terrifying threats. He must also be permanently banned from owning or residing with animals. Laws must recognize the actual seriousness of animal abuse and ensure that those who commit these brutal acts are held fully accountable.

Research has consistently shown a strong link between animal cruelty and human violence. Individuals who commit such heinous acts against animals often pose a threat to society as a whole, as animal abuse is frequently a precursor to other violent crimes. Failing to hold this man accountable not only denies justice to the innocent kittens he brutally killed but also endangers the community at large. We must send a clear message that such cruelty will not be tolerated.

Note: Detweiler was arraigned on Sept. 2 and remains jailed on $50,000 bail. He was charged with three counts of first-degree animal cruelty and one count of felony harassment – domestic violence. He has been in custody at the King County Correctional Facility since August 21, 2025.

Update 11/18/2025: Case number is 25-1-07685-3. Detweiler was charged with three felonies – Animal Cruelty in the first degree. “Animal cruelty in the first degree is a class C felony. (5) In addition to the penalty imposed in subsection (4) of this section, the court must order that the convicted person not own, care for, possess, or reside in any household where an animal is present, in accordance with RCW 16.52. 200.” He was also charged with HARASSMENT-PREV CONV DTH THRT FELON

“In King County, WA, “HARASSMENT-PREV CONV DTH THRT FELON” means the individual is charged with felony harassment due to a previous conviction for harassment and a new threat to kill. This elevated charge is because the new threat was made by someone who has a history of being convicted of harassment, and the new threat was specifically a death threat.” He was also charged with harassment which is a gross misdemeanor. He was also charged with domestic violence which is an additional gross misdemeanor.

The next scheduled hearing is on November 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. It is an Omnibus hearing in Courtroom GA. Also, his trial date will be set on 12/29/2025.
