Houston, Texas – Earlier this month, two kids in Harris County, Texas, cruelly targeted a six-week-old kitten, dousing the tiny feline in gasoline and setting her on fire. A witness could hear the youths laughing as the tiny kitten burned alive.
Witness Arleth Garcia tells ABC 13 News, “I heard laughing. I thought they were having a party outside or something.” She adds, “I feel like those are the kinds of people that start off with animals and then kill people in the future. I don’t know who thinks of stuff like that for real and then laughing.” Witnesses to the crime called 911 and tried to douse the flames that engulfed the kitten, but the burns were too significant, and the innocent baby had to be euthanized.
The abhorrent crime was captured on surveillance videos on June 6, at 1 a.m. on the 12600 block of Drifting Woods Drive in northeast Harris County.
After receiving a tip, the authorities were able to execute a search warrant at a home where the kitten is believed to have lived. There, they found two neglected dogs, seven puppies, and another cat.
The animals were malnourished and living in deplorable conditions in a shed, with no access to food or water. The animals were seized and taken to an area shelter.
Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen commented on the depravity of the incident, “The video was terrible. I mean, that cat burned for a while and suffered greatly,” adding, “I’ve seen people behead animals. I’ve seen a lot of different things. I have not seen a lot of animals set on fire.”
The authorities know who is responsible for this despicable crime, but the names have not been made public. Rosen said the juveniles (believed to be between the age of 10 and 15) and two adults will face felony animal cruelty charges. Please add your name to the petition today to help Animal Victory fight for this case to move forward, without being dismissed.
WHY THIS PETITION MATTERS:
We the undersigned demand that everyone involved in this abhorrent incident receive the maximum sentence for all charges associated with this depraved crime. Everyone involved must be held accountable for their actions or they will never stop their pattern of abuse and/or they may escalate their violent tendencies to humans. This kitten’s life mattered and we want to see justice served.
Note: The sex of the slain kitten is unknown. We have chosen to refer to this innocent victim as “she” rather than “it” because this kitten’s life mattered and he/she was not a thing. She was a living, breathing feline who could feel pain and fear.
Individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. Animal Victory relies upon the authorities and the court system to determine guilt or innocence.
