Loveland, Colorado – A kitten died in Loveland, Colorado, after being subjected to extreme abuse at the hands of a teenager. According to the Loveland Police Department, 18-year-old Khalin Lovely tortured the seven-month-old kitten at a residence in Loveland and the horror was captured on video.

The footage was obtained by Lovely’s girlfriend’s mother, who suspected that her kitten was being mistreated. The Loveland Reporter-Herald describes what transpired on December 29, “After she left the residence, she received an alert that the camera had detected motion, so she tuned in to the camera’s feed and saw Lovely performing what LPD spokesperson Chris Padgett described as torture to the kitten. She returned home and called the police, who responded to the scene and took the kitten to a local veterinarian, where it was determined that the animal had suffered severe injuries and needed to be euthanized.”

Chris Padgett, a spokesperson for the Loveland Police Department, commented on the severity of the abuse observed in the video footage:

“The video was very horrific to watch. I’ve worked animal cruelty cases when I was a special victim’s detective, and this case was certainly one of the worst I have ever seen.”

The video footage has not been released publicly, but it has been confirmed to reveal horrific abuse. Suffice it to say, this innocent kitten suffered horribly before dying.

According to the Loveland Police, the investigation coupled with video evidence of the abuse, determined that Lovely had committed aggravated cruelty to an animal, per CRS 18-9-202(1.5)(b)(c). A probable cause arrest was immediately made on Lovely, and he was booked into the Larimer County Jail. Magistrate Sage issued a $100 cash bond. The charge, which is normally a class 6 felony, was enhanced to a class 4 felony due to the animal having serious bodily injury, causing it to be euthanized.

Please sign the petition today to help Animal Victory ensure that Khalin Lovely faces true repercussions for his abhorrent abuse of an innocent kitten. We will fight to make sure this case is NOT dismissed.

WHY THIS PETITION MATTERS:

We, the undersigned, demand justice for the innocent kitten, whose life was cruelly stolen by Khalin Lovely. Lovely inflicted unimaginable suffering on this kitten and he must be held accountable for his despicable actions. Lovely’s torture of this kitten was among the worst seen by the Loveland Police Department, and he must face true repercussions rather than a meaningless slap on the wrist.

Research has consistently shown a strong link between animal cruelty and human violence. Individuals who commit such heinous acts against animals often pose a threat to society as a whole, as animal abuse is frequently a precursor to other violent crimes. Failing to hold Lovely accountable not only denies justice for this kitten but also endangers the community at large. It is imperative that we send a clear message that such cruelty will not be tolerated.

Individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. Animal Victory relies upon the authorities and the court system to determine guilt or innocence.

Note: Case #24-CR1966. The next court appearance is 2/24/25 at 2:30 pm in Courtroom 3B. Defendant has been appointed a public defender, and both sides are in the discovery phase.

22,777Anonymous This act of animal cruelty is one of the most sickening I've heard. Torturing a tiny animal that has no way of protecting itself is appalling. This is a sign of future violence towards people, as well. And if those signs are ignored, I guarantee that someone, somewhere, will eventually be harmed, abused, or killed by Khalin Lovely. This poor animal was denied the right to live. Khalin should face justice for these acts and be imprisoned for a considerable amount of time, as well he should be carefully monitored for further signs of homicidal behavior. (He already admits in the video that he's had homicidal thoughts, so I don't know what else a judge would need to hear besides laying an actual body out in the courtroom). 0 Apr 06, 2025

22,771 Caroline O. These type of people shouldn't be free. It's disgusting that these types of crimes have to happen to humans for the justice system to truly care and hand out a severe enough punishment to get them off the streets. Like animals don't feel pain or have souls. I believe there's a special place in hell for these things they don't deserve to be called people. 0 Apr 04, 2025
