Akiak, Alaska – On September 1, seven sled dogs in Akiak, Alaska, suffered a brutal death at the hands of 23-year-old Charles Ivan, who chained them by the neck and viciously beat them with a stick. Ivan attempted to kill nine dogs, who belonged to his father, but someone was able to intervene and save two dogs from the savage beating.
The violent rampage followed a family dispute that prompted Ivan to damage and steal items before he turned his attention to the innocent dogs held in a nearby yard.
According to an Alaska State Trooper statement, Ivan walked to his father’s dog yard, removed nine sled dogs from their tethers, chained them by their necks, and used a stick to beat them to death.
The deadly attack led to a slew of charges, including 10 Class C Felonies, one Class B Felony, two Class A Misdemeanors, and two Class B Misdemeanors. Animal Victory needs your support to ensure this man is put behind bars for as long as possible for the horrific pain, suffering, and death he caused.
These dogs were innocent victims of an unhinged man’s wrath – chained with no way to escape and forced to witness each other’s horrific deaths. Please add your name to the petition today!

WHY THIS PETITION MATTERS:
We, the undersigned, demand that Charles Ivan be held accountable for his vicious actions on September 1. This violent man savagely beat nine dogs, killing seven. We and our supporters demand that Charles Ivan face the maximum sentence for every charge stemming from this violent incident; he must face actual repercussions for his actions. Additionally, given Charles Ivan’s violent tendencies, we demand that this man be prohibited from owning or residing with animals in the future.
Individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. Animal Victory relies upon the authorities and the court system to determine guilt or innocence.
