Sign: Justice for Reba, the Dog Left to Die After Being Taped in a Tote and Dumped

Las Vegas, Nevada – On July 26, amid the sweltering summer heat of Las Vegas, a shocking discovery was made by a dumpster outside a Vons supermarket. An English bulldog, suffering from heat stroke, was cruelly taped inside a plastic tote bin and discarded like trash as outside temperatures soared beyond 100-degrees.

The dog, dubbed Reba by rescuers, lived for two agonizing days before the devastating effects of severe heat stroke caused cardiac arrest, claiming her life. Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said:

“This dog died a very brutal death. She was treated literally like a piece of garbage.”

A lengthy investigation led to the arrest of 32-year-old Isaac Laushaul Jr. and 30-year-old Markeisha Foster; both are facing charges of willful, malicious animal abuse, a felony.

According to a report from the Las Vegas Metro Police, neighbors of Laushaul and Foster frequently observed Reba tied up outside without access to water. They also reported hearing Laushaul yelling at her for peeing. Residents nearby offered to take the dog, but they were refused.

The witness statements indicate this dog suffered extensively before the deadly July abandonment.

WHY THIS PETITION MATTERS: 

We, the undersigned, demand justice for Reba, whose life was cruelly stolen by Isaac Laushaul Jr. and Markeisha Foster. These individuals inflicted unimaginable suffering on Reba, and they must be held accountable for their despicable actions. Taping this innocent dog in a plastic tote and discarding her like unwanted trash is a sickening act of cruelty. Laushaul Jr. and Foster must face meaningful consequences for their actions.

Research has consistently shown a strong link between animal cruelty and human violence. Individuals who commit such heinous acts against animals often pose a threat to society as a whole, as animal abuse is frequently a precursor to other violent crimes. Failing to hold these perpetrators accountable not only denies justice for Reba but also endangers the community at large. It is imperative that we send a clear message that such cruelty will not be tolerated.

Individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. Animal Victory relies upon the authorities and the court system to determine guilt or innocence.

Note: Isaac Laushaul Jr. and Markeisha Foster remain in the Clark County Detention Center, and they are scheduled to appear in court December 23 for a preliminary hearing. Assemblywoman Melissa Hardy is drafting “Reba’s Bill” to help increase penalties for those who abuse, neglect, or kill animals.
