Seattle, WA – On the morning of August 20, a beloved 80-year-old dog walker was violently murdered by a convicted felon with a laundry list of criminal activity dating back to 1993. Jahmed Kamal Haynes, 48, is identified by the authorities as the man who ran over and dragged Ruth Dalton, stole her Subaru Forester, and fatally stabbed her dog, Prince.
Prince was one of six dogs in the car when Haynes stole it. Rather than letting the dog go, he repeatedly slashed Prince with a knife and threw his body in a recycling bin before fleeing. The other dogs escaped from the car, and Haynes’ knife.
One dog was hit by a car but survived.
Haynes is no stranger to violence. He was convicted of vehicular homicide in 1993, committed armed robbery in 1999, and while in prison for his crimes, he attacked two corrections officers using a 12-inch piece of metal that had been sharpened to a dull point.
Haynes may be a career criminal, but his sloppiness after murdering Dalton, stealing her car, and killing her dog, led to his arrest. People witnessed Haynes stabbing Prince in a park not far from the carjacking. Responding officers found the dead dog, and Dalton’s stolen car; inside the car was the murder victim’s phone and Hayne’s fingerprints.
When the authorities ran the prints, they turned up as a match to Haynes. The police went to his residence and found Haynes with a bloodied knife, and the keys to Dalton’s stolen car.
Enough is enough – this man has taken too many lives, and it is time for him to be put away. Catch and release prosecution does nothing to stop people like Jahmed Haynes, and it is high time that he faces true consequences for his actions. Please add your name to the petition and join Animal Victory as we fight to put this man away!
WHY THIS PETITION MATTERS:
We the undersigned demand Jahmed Kamal Haynes be held accountable for the brutal murder of Ruth Dalton, and the vicious killing her innocent dog, Prince. Animal Victory and its supporters demand that Haynes face the maximum sentence for each, and every charge associated with this abhorrent incident. Jahmed Haynes has a lengthy criminal history, with eight felony convictions, and he will hurt, or kill, again if he does not face true, significant consequences. Haynes clearly has a propensity for violence, and he is an extreme danger to society!
