El Paso County, Colorado — A Colorado woman is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after she allegedly threw her neighbor’s cat, Tobi, to her dogs, allowing them to fatally maul the cat. The accused, Ashley Losey, was allegedly involved in a years-long dispute with her El Paso County neighbor, Lindsey Hodges-Hough, whose 15-year-old son owned Tobi. The dispute allegedly culminated in Tobi’s brutal death in June.
According to Lindsey, Tobi, was outdoors when neighbor Ashley Losey brought him into her home.
Tobi’s family says this chilling message was sent to them before Tobi was later killed by the dogs.
Lindsey alleges that Ashley later tossed Tobi into the backyard with her dogs. Surveillance video footage reportedly shows Tobi desperately trying to escape Losey’s dogs. Tobi ran, but he was no match for the dogs, who caught him and left his small body mangled. When asked about the video footage of Tobi’s death, Hodges-Hough told KRDO News, “I can’t speak upon it. It’s cruel.”
Tobi was loved, and his family is devastated that he was taken from them in such a cruel and violent way. What allegedly happened to him is horrifying and cannot go unanswered. If convicted, Ashley Losey should receive the strongest penalty allowed by law. Tobi deserved to be safe, not to spend his final moments terrified and being mauled to death. Such an attack can never be justified.

We demand that Losey face the strongest charges supported by the evidence and, if convicted, receive the maximum sentence permitted by law. We further urge the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to pursue every applicable charge supported by the evidence. If convicted as charged, Losey could face several years in prison, jail time, substantial fines, restitution, restrictions on possessing animals, and other court-ordered consequences. The precise sentencing exposure will depend on the statutory subsections charged, the court’s findings, and whether any sentences are imposed concurrently or consecutively.
