Father And Daughter Arrested For Burning Raccoon Alive In Dumpster

Sarasota, FL – A Florida man, and his daughter, have been arrested and charged following an intensive investigation by the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office Agricultural Unit that began on August 11;  the day that a Snapchat video of a raccoon being burned alive in a dumpster began circulating online.

On Sept. 2, the sheriff’s office announced the arrest of 30-year-old Alicia Kincheloe and her father, 63-year-old Roddy Kincheloe. In a press conference led by Sheriff Kurt Hoffman, the grim details that took place on August 11 were recounted. According to Sheriff Hoffman, Roddy Kincheloe initially stabbed the raccoon with a pitchfork and left the animal for dead in a dumpster. He and his daughter went to lunch and when they returned, the raccoon was still alive. At this point, a flammable liquid was poured into the dumpster, on the raccoon who was still alive, and set on fire.

Alicia gleefully recorded the raccoon being burned to death and when it was over, she appeared to be jubilant, proudly stating that “We just toasted his a**.” Adding, “Who’s hungry?”

She proceeds to use the pitchfork to remove the raccoon’s charred body from the dumpster and disposes of it off camera. Sheriff Hoffman explained that her actions secured a charge of  Tampering with Physical Evidence, in addition to Aggravated Animal Cruelty.

Alicia’s father, Roddy, is also facing a felony charge of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, and according to Sheriff Hoffman, this adds to his growing criminal history, which includes charges in the past for prostitution, domestic violence, drugs, and contempt of court. As Sheriff Hoffman stated in the press conference, Roddy’s extensive criminal history is “what you would expect from a scumbag” who could commit a disgusting act of animal cruelty like this.

Please add your name to the petition today! What Alicia and Roddy did to this raccoon is reprehensible and they must be held accountable for their appalling behavior. This case has garnered attention from across the nation and we want to ensure that court officials are aware of the public’s support for putting these two individuals behind bars for as long as possible.

We the undersigned demand that Alicia and Roddy Kincheloe are held responsible for cruelly burning a raccoon alive. We are petitioning for Alicia and Roddy to receive the maximum punishment allowable by law for their felony charges of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and Alicia’s charge of Tampering With Physical Evidence. 

*Alicia and Roddy have already been released from jail on bond.

Final Update 2/23/2024: Victory! Animal Victory has learned that Roddy Kincheloe was given a 10-day suspended jail sentence. He must complete an OWP (Offender Work Program) within 120 days, otherwise he must. then serve 10 days in jail. He has a $2500 fine that must be paid within 6 months. He was sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation, and he is forbidden to own or be around animals during the duration of his probation. Animal Victory thanks everyone who signed the petition, helping to keep this case in front of court officials to prevent it from being dismissed!

Update 1/22/2024: Victory – On December 19, 2023, Alicia Kincheloe was sentenced to 45 days in an offender work program, which must be completed within 315 days of her sentence, in addition to two years of community control and three years of probation. She is required to perform 100 hours of community service, which can be started after the work offender days are completed. We are happy that this case was not thrown out and that this woman was found guilty in court! We thank everyone who took the time to sign this petition, asking for justice. We are still waiting for Roddy Kincheloe’s case outcome. 

Update 10/04/2023:  Alicia Kincheloe was found guilty of the charges of aggravated animal cruelty and tampering with evidence both of which are felonies, authorities announced, on Oct. 4. Her sentencing is on Dec 19 and she faces a maximum of five years in a state correctional facility on each of the charges.  Animal Victory is pleased that Alicia was found guilty, and we are anxiously awaiting Roddy Kincheloe’s case outcome.  His trial date is yet to be scheduled.

Update 5/11/2023: Animal Victory has learned that Alicia and Roddy Kincheloe have their jury trial set for 7/24/2023 at 9 a.m. in room 4A.

Update 2/8/2023: Animal Victory has sent the petition and signatures directly to Judge Thomas Krug.  Court has been continued to April 6, 2023, for Alica Kincheloe. CMC, and as grounds would state as follows:
1, The Defendant is not in custody.
2. The Defendant is charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty and Evidence Tampering.
3. The State and the Defense are conducting depositions of essential witnesses on February
21, 2023.
4. This stipulation for a continuance is submitted in good faith.

Update 9/26/22: Criminal felony arraignment for both defendants is scheduled for October 14, 2022, at 9 a.m. in courtroom 4B of the Sarasota County Judicial Center. 

Update 12/19/22: The next court date for both defendants is February 9, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 4A with Judge Krug Thomas.
