Blue Is Homeless At 14 Years Of Age After Her Owner Surrendered Her To A Busy Shelter

Published: April 25, 2023 at 01:05 PM Author: Penny Eims

Gardena, CA -A 14-year-old dog named Blue finds herself homeless in the twilight of her life. The elderly Cane Corso was surrendered to the Carson Animal Services facility on April 23 because her owner said they could no longer care for her.

The shelter notes state:

Good afternoon, I hope this email finds you better than well, we are seeking assistance in our friend Blue. Blue come to us as an owner surrender from the field on April 23, 2023 due to the owner being unable to care for Blue any longer. Blue is a 14 year old spayed Cane Corso and is available for public adoption and rescue. If you were able to assist us with Blue please let us know.

Age has taken a toll on Blue’s body.

MEDICAL SUMMARY:
Blue is a geriatric Cane Corso presented to the care center as an owner surrender. She is very thin and has difficulty walking on her pelvic limbs. She would benefit greatly from a loving environment for the duration of her time.

Video footage of Blue in her kennel run at the shelter reveals her fear and confusion. She is clearly distraught.

The shelter is bursting at the seams with unwanted pets. Even dogs who are young and healthy are being euthanized because of space constraints. Please share Blue’s information and help her beat the odds and find a place to spend the remainder of her days.

How can someone raise a dog it’s entire life and then when they need your help and love the most, you throw them away. I hope the owners who did this will get a visit from Karma and when they start going senile and pissing their pants, their family throws them away as well.

I agree, but sometimes their life circumstances can cause them to be physically or financially unable to care for the pet. So many people are in horrible financial and living situations these days. If this is the case perhaps they could not afford to pay for the food or medical care this baby so needs. Perhaps they thought they were doing what was best for the dog. It is not what I would have done plus I am very sure there are rescues willing to help them if it was costs but we never know another persons situation. This pup deserved better and if there reasons were not the best interests of the pet I am sure Karma will visit them.

very sad sad situation. We don’t know the whole story. The owner could have circumstances beyond their control &!for all we know they’re devastated over this.
Let’s see what we can do to get Blue into a foster home or adopted where he can be at peace and be loved on til his time comes. 💔💔

Her problems with mobility could be arthritis, which can be handled holistically. She needs special care to live out the rest of her days as comfortably (and loved) as possible!

“She’s very thin” Translation: Her owner neglected her for a while and decides to surrender her saying they can “no longer care for her” Hogwash.

Imagine the “life” Blue had with such people who would dispose of her like this. She deserves her remaining time on Earth to be secure and filled with love and happiness. May the right person/people come along to give her that 🙏, please.

Does your region have a hospice rescue? She needs something like that. How cruel to just dump her. She is confused and lost..

That is very old for a dog so big. My 16 year old schnauzer was also brought to a shelter when he was 14 1/2. His person could not give him the time and care he needed. Luckily, the shelter called a rescuer who took him in. It is so heartbreaking to see these very old dogs end up in shelter, especially the ones that are so busy such as this one. My Andre was well taken care of and my feeling is that he did it for him but we know that shelters are not good for old dogs. Is there no one who can do a permanent foster or a rescue for senior dogs? I am 3,000 miles away with a dog who is blind and deaf and wonky on his legs. This poor girl, Blue, he must be so disoriented, stressed, and lonely.I wish I could help him. Old dogs are said to be easy but in reality they need a lot of care sometimes. I know that is the case with mine, I would never bring an old dog to a shelter or any dog, except for once and it is more complicated than I have time for but they found her a great home and it is a wonderful small shelter. She could not stay with me and was more than I could handle.

This is awful for Blue. To be thrown away in her old age is heartless. A pet is a lifetime commitment, they are family. I hope someone will have a heart and give Blue a loving home in the time she has left.

So would her ex owner have given taken their child or partner to a shelter after so many years saying they could no longer care for them? If you take on any companion animal it is for life not when you get tired of them or they are too old . I have lost my home , been divorced had mental health issues where I was under the care of a local mental health team but I never ever gave up on my dogs or gave them away . I get fed up with all the excuses . This poor girl will be so bewildered as to why her family of 14 years got rid of her , it is disgusting and breaks my heart . People are selfish , there re no excuses for doing this , I’d rather live on the streets with my dog than get rid of her.

There is no logical excuse for abandoning a 14 year old dog for any reason.. if the owner has food the dog should have food and as for everything there are resources to help those who need it with food and medical care out there but it takes time to LOOK! So there is no excusable reason they poor girl is in a shelter waiting not for adoption because of her age and medical needs but euthaniza it would take a special person to take an aged dog someone else dumped but they are out there and hopefully someone sees this and takes her in to give her a home to make her feel wanted a again..and I do hope for the worse for her previous owner…

I totally agree that he was a faithful and loving boy, and now when he needs his master to care for him, he dumps him at a shelter. Maybe family or friends could help with feeding this dog. What a rotten thing to do, and if he had some illness, maybe euthanasia…It just is so sick to think of this dog in a shelter….

I am totally disgusted regarding these cows that were murdered and mutilated. That some less than human, would decide to just do this for amusement. What is wrong with this picture? I am horrified that these animals were mutilated and left to die.
I hope law enforcement can find some evidence that leads them to these subhuman beings!!!!!
